Required training for all volunteers

Some volunteer roles will receive special training, but everyone should be prepared to help make Rendez-vous 2020 a safe, inclusive and accessible event for everyone.

You can complete the training online and at your own pace. Once you have completed the training, submit your self-study certification to let us know you are done.

Have questions? Send us an email at rendezvous@united-church.ca.

Why do I need training as a Rendez-vous volunteer?

Here are two good reasons.

  • First, we want to make sure that everyone who is a part of making Rendez-vous 2020 the most exciting youth event of the year is able to provide participants with a respectful, inclusive and enriching experience.
  • Second, we want to make sure that policies, procedures and expectations are clearly communicated so that there are no surprises. (Or at least as few as possible!)

There are lots of other reasons we could provide, but making sure that we provide the best experience we can for all of our volunteers and participants is reason enough!

How long is it going to take?

You should be able to complete the required training in about two hours. Home group leaders will participate in small group training as facilitators of small group discussions and faith formation practices.

What if I have already done this training?

Some of the policies and processes are specific to Rendez-vous 2020 and everyone should complete them. If you have completed accessibility training in the last 12 months, you may certify that you have done so. Even if you have completed training in the last 12 months, it is still a good idea to refresh your skills for ensuring a welcoming and accessible environment.
